Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies handled a wide range of incidents during the past week, including drug arrests, assaults, burglaries, thefts, and several firearm-related calls. Deputies arrested a Lugoff man after discovering approximately nine grams of methamphetamine during a warrant investigation on Cricket Hill Drive. Multiple drivers were also charged with driving under suspension or without a license during traffic stops across the county.

Investigators are looking into a reported armed robbery and kidnapping incident at a Highway 1 South motel in Lugoff, where a suspect allegedly forced his way into a room, threatened victims with a handgun, and stole a cell phone before fleeing. Another firearm-related call involved reports of shots fired on Roy Truesdale Road, while a juvenile in Cassatt was warned after pointing a realistic-looking BB gun at motorists.

Among property crimes, deputies investigated a burglary on Linde Lane where jewelry and cash valued at more than $3,000 were reported stolen, and thieves made off with an estimated 300 to 400 gallons of diesel fuel from a Camden construction site. Deputies also responded to a false hostage and bomb threat call in Elgin that was determined to be a swatting incident. Several domestic violence and assault cases resulted in arrests, while mental health and suicide-related calls accounted for multiple law enforcement and EMS responses throughout the week.
