Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies handled a wide variety of incidents during the week, including major thefts, drug arrests, vandalism cases, and a high-profile standoff that ended peacefully.

Among the largest thefts reported was the disappearance of a 2019 Polaris RZR side-by-side valued at approximately $13,500 from McRae Road near Camden. Investigators are also looking into the theft of a handgun from an unlocked vehicle on Hilton Street, along with several fraud and scam cases involving thousands of dollars. Deputies made multiple arrests during the week, including a Lugoff woman charged after fentanyl and other narcotics were discovered during a traffic stop on Fort Jackson Road. Another suspect wanted on robbery, kidnapping, and assault charges was taken into custody in Elgin after refusing deputies’ commands and prompting the deployment of K-9 Finn.

Other notable cases included a suspicious vehicle fire under investigation in Camden, vandalism at a local community center, and the arrest of an intoxicated former employee accused of causing a disturbance at a Lugoff restaurant. The week also included a major sheriff’s office operation on White Oak Road, where a barricaded suspect surrendered peacefully after several hours of negotiations and was taken into custody without injury.
