Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a number of significant incidents during the past week, including a major assault investigation, theft reports, shoplifting cases, and several fraud complaints.

One of the most serious incidents remains under investigation after a woman reported jumping from a moving pickup truck in Lugoff to escape a man who allegedly threatened to crash the vehicle. The woman suffered multiple injuries and was transported for medical treatment. Deputies are also investigating the reported theft of a 2017 golf cart from a Lugoff property and a shoplifting incident at the Dollar General on Highway 601 South, where suspects allegedly left with nearly $150 worth of merchandise. Surveillance images and vehicle information have been collected as evidence.

Financial crimes were another focus during the week. Investigators received reports involving unauthorized Cash App transactions totaling more than $500 and a separate identity theft case in which a Lugoff resident reported more than $1,100 in fraudulent debit card purchases. Deputies also served multiple outstanding warrants across the county and responded to several public safety and mental health-related incidents, including calls involving individuals in crisis who were referred for medical assistance.

The cases remain under investigation by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
