Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies stayed busy during the past week investigating a multimillion-dollar business dispute, making drug arrests, and responding to a string of property crimes across the county.
One of the largest investigations began after the co-owner of an Kershaw County business reported that more than $130,000 may have been diverted by a business partner over the past three years. The alleged breach of trust involves more than $261,000 in disputed business funds and remains under investigation.
Deputies also made several notable arrests during the week, including a Camden traffic stop that led to the seizure of methamphetamine and another narcotics operation in Lugoff where agents arrested a suspect on methamphetamine charges while serving outstanding warrants.
Property crimes were another major focus. Investigators are looking into multiple storage unit burglaries in the Cassatt area where tools, electronics, mini bikes, ammunition, and other equipment were stolen. Deputies are also investigating the theft of a wallet containing cash and credit cards, along with several shoplifting and larceny cases reported throughout the county.
Other significant incidents included the arrest of a convicted felon accused of threatening a woman with a knife, firing a stolen handgun, and illegally possessing that firearm. Deputies also handled several DUI arrests, served numerous outstanding warrants, and responded to several mental health emergencies during the reporting period.
