According to the Camden PD, On Friday, November 7, 2025, a Kershaw County jury convicted Troy Douglas Jenkins of Burglary in the First Degree, two counts of Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery in the First Degree, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime in connection with a violent home invasion that occurred in downtown Camden in February 2023. The Honorable T.W. McGee, III sentenced Jenkins to 45 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Evidence presented at trial showed that on Sunday, February 19, 2023, Jenkins forcibly entered a residence in downtown Camden armed with a knife. He attacked the homeowners—injuring the husband—before demanding money. The husband was ultimately able to retrieve his firearm, prompting Jenkins to flee the home. The victims immediately contacted 911 and provided officers with a description of the suspect as he fled down Lyttleton Street. Corporal Jordan Sanner of the Camden Police Department arrived within four minutes, located Jenkins in the area, and initiated a foot pursuit through the neighborhood. Additional officers responded and detained Jenkins on Chestnut Street. Deputies from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgt. Billy Sowell and K9 Koda, assisted in tracking Jenkins’ route from the victims’ home. Along the path, deputies recovered cash stolen during the robbery and a KFC work shirt belonging to Jenkins. A nearby resident later discovered the knife used in the assault under a brush pile and reported it to CPD.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitors Michael Bradbury and Paul Walton, with support from Investigator Chris Davis, for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Detectives Carl Olson and Carmen Oxandaboure led the investigation for the Camden Police Department.
