School District Announces Several Admin Transfers And New Hires

The Kershaw County School Board approved several administrative transfers and new hires including: Tarolyn Lee transferring to Camden High School as an assistant principal, Lawrence H. (Mac) McCallum transferring to Camden High School as an assistant principal, Shamarli Johnson being named as a Lugoff Elgin High School assistant principal, hiring James McMillan as an assistant principal at Lugoff Elgin High School, and Emily Stover joining the Camden Middle School administrative staff as an assistant principal. These changes will take place over the next few weeks. 

Tarolyn Lee returns to Camden High as an assistant principal after serving as an assistant principal at Lugoff Elgin High School for three years. She previously worked as an assistant principal at Camden High, serving as the freshman transition specialist, testing coordinator and the virtual environment coordinator. She began her career as an English language arts teacher, joining KCSD in 2013 as a reading interventionist/writing teacher at Stover Middle School. She served as an assistant administrator from 2017-2018. 

Mac McCallum returns to Camden High as an assistant principal after joining the Stover Middle administrative staff in 2023 as an assistant principal. He has more than 20 years of special education teaching experience. McCallum taught special education at Camden High School for eight years, serving as the instructional leader for the special education department. He was named the 2021-2022 Camden High School Teacher of the Year. Prior to this, he worked at Pine Grove, Inc., Camden Middle School and Charleston County School District.

Shamarli Johnson joins KCSD with seven years of educational leadership experience, most recently in Richland County School District Two at Westwood High School where she served as an assistant administrator for three years. Prior to that, she worked in Florida as an assistant principal and high school English teacher. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, a Master of Education degree from Florida International University and an Educational Specialist degree in leadership and administration from Florida Atlantic University. She is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), South Carolina Association of Black School Educators (SCABSE), and the International Literacy Association (ILA).

James McMillan transitions into the role of assistant principal at Lugoff Elgin High School, where he currently teaches mathematics. McMillan joined the LE staff in 2016, after teaching mathematics at Sumter High School for 6 years. McMillan earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics from Miami-Dade College and a Master of Education degree from Liberty University. He is a member of ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.

Emily Stover joins the Camden Middle School administrative team as an assistant principal with 12 years of education experience. She began her career as a high school social studies teacher in Rock Hill School District in 2013, before becoming a school administrator at York Comprehensive High School in 2022. Stover earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies education and Master of Education degree in Education Leadership from Winthrop University. She is a member of South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).
