The South Carolina Department of Social Services says a planned change involving SNAP benefits will not begin at the end of August as previously scheduled. DSS says the U.S. Department of Agriculture has directed the state to postpone its Healthy Food SC demonstration project. The program had been scheduled to begin August 31st, but the new implementation date is November 1st.
The project applies to households receiving SNAP benefits in South Carolina. DSS says the delay comes following a directive from the USDA.
