Kershaw County is mourning the loss of two well-known members of the community.
James Henry “Jackie” Spears Jr. passed away Sunday at the age of 82. Spears had a long career in the community, including serving as Director of Public Works for Kershaw County before his retirement. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 7th at 1 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church in Lugoff, with the funeral at 2 p.m. and burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Also passing away this week was longtime Camden businessman and musician Rusty Davis, who died Tuesday, October 6. Davis was the longtime owner of Davis and Sons Guitar Shop in downtown Camden, where he was also known for teaching generations of local musicians. He was the father of Camden native and singer-songwriter Patrick Davis.
Funeral arrangements for Rusty Davis have not yet been announced. Both men were longtime fixtures in Kershaw County and leave lasting legacies in the community.
