A Bethune man has been denied bond following a shooting Saturday morning on Wateree Grove Lane.

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office says deputies found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was taken for medical treatment and is expected to recover. Investigators say the shooting was not random and that the victim and suspect knew each other.

Twenty-nine-year-old Devanta Ray Lowery of Bethune was taken into custody and is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center. Lowery has since been denied bond. He faces four counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm into a dwelling, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Sheriff Lee Boan says investigators are continuing to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
