It was another busy Friday night of high school football across Kershaw County, with the Camden Bulldogs and Lugoff-Elgin Demons picking up big victories, while the North Central Knights closed the regular season with a loss to Cheraw.

Cheraw Tops North Central, 33-15

The North Central Knights wrapped up their regular season Friday night at home with a 33-15 loss to the Cheraw Braves.

North Central entered Senior Night looking to bounce back after its three-game winning streak had been snapped by Lamar the previous week. The Knights had put together an impressive late-season stretch with wins over Lee Central and McBee, but Cheraw proved to be too much on Friday night.

The Braves came away with the 33-15 victory, handing North Central its second consecutive loss. The Knights finish the regular season with a 4-6 record, while Cheraw improved to 6-3 after winning five of its last six games.

Despite the loss, North Central showed plenty of fight during the second half of the season and gave its seniors an opportunity to finish their home careers in front of the Knights faithful. The Knights have earned a first bye in the playoffs and will be back in action in the second round on Nov. 13; the opponent has yet to be determined.

Lugoff-Elgin Rolls Past Richland Northeast

The Lugoff-Elgin Demons continued their outstanding season Friday night with a convincing road victory over the Richland Northeast Cavaliers in Columbia.

Lugoff-Elgin entered the night with plenty on the line in the Region 4-4A race, and the Demons took care of their part of the equation with a dominant performance. Multiple score reports list the final as Lugoff-Elgin 43, Richland Northeast 12.

The victory was especially important because Lancaster also defeated Dreher, setting the stage for a huge regular-season finale between Lugoff-Elgin and Lancaster for the Region 4-4A championship.

The Demons have now put themselves in position to finish an already impressive regular season with a region championship if they can beat Lancaster on the road Friday night. You can listen to all the action starting at 7pm on 98.7FM Carolin Country Classics.

Camden Beats Lower Richland, Claims Region Championship

The Camden Bulldogs took care of business on the road Friday night, defeating the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets 41-13 in Hopkins and securing the Region 4-3A championship.

Quarterback Greyson Rimph threw three touchdown passes in the victory, while Isaiah Smith added a kickoff return for a touchdown as the Bulldogs continued their strong late-season run.

Camden entered the game coming off a 52-27 victory over Brookland-Cayce and carried that momentum into Friday night’s matchup. The Bulldogs’ 41-point performance against Lower Richland secured the region crown and gives Camden plenty of momentum heading toward postseason play.

For Camden, the victory was about more than adding another win to the record. The Bulldogs are Region 4-3A champions, earning another piece of hardware for one of South Carolina’s tradition-rich high school football programs.

Camden will wrap up the reaguler season on the road at Airport Friday night and you can listen to call the action starting at 7pm on Kool 102.7.
