The Carolina Panthers picked up a big road victory Sunday afternoon, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 25-14 at Lincoln Financial Field and improving to 3-2 on the season.

Quarterback Bryce Young helped lead the way for Carolina, completing 20 of 39 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Both touchdown passes went to tight end Tommy Tremble, who finished with four catches for 46 yards and two scores.

The Panthers also got another strong performance from Chuba Hubbard, who carried the ball 28 times for 120 yards and a touchdown. Hubbard’s one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter gave Carolina a 19-7 advantage.

Philadelphia cut the lead to 19-14 on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tanner McKee to DeVonta Smith, but the Panthers answered. After a big special-teams play helped give Carolina excellent field position, Young connected with Tremble for a 19-yard touchdown to put the game away.

Carolina’s defense also turned in a strong afternoon, holding Philadelphia to just 222 total yards. The Eagles managed only 35 yards rushing as the Panthers controlled much of the game despite being hurt by 13 penalties for 149 yards.

Now the Panthers return home for an important NFC South matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium. Carolina enters the matchup at 3-2 and atop the NFC South, while Tampa Bay comes to Charlotte at 1-5.

One of the biggest questions heading into the game surrounds Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has been sidelined with a thumb injury. Mayfield is expected to return to practice this week, giving him a chance to return against Carolina.

The Panthers will look to build on their victory over Philadelphia and strengthen their position in the NFC South as they renew their divisional rivalry with the Buccaneers.
