The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says 19 dogs have been rescued and four Sumter County men charged following a dogfighting investigation.
SLED says three of the men are charged with criminal conspiracy, along with four counts each of animal fighting or baiting and ill treatment of animals. A fourth man faces those same charges, along with a charge of being present at an animal-fighting facility. The four were booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Sumter Police assisted with the arrests, and the case will be prosecuted by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
