The Carolina Panthers bounced back in a big way Sunday afternoon, dominating the Atlanta Falcons 34-3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to pick up their first victory of the 2026 season.
Quarterback Bryce Young led the way for Carolina, completing 23 of 36 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Young connected with Chuba Hubbard for a three-yard touchdown in the opening quarter before finding veteran tight end Darren Waller twice for scores.
Carolina took control from the opening possession. Atlanta quarterback Cooper Rush fumbled on the Falcons’ first offensive play, giving the Panthers an early opportunity. Rush was intercepted on Atlanta’s next possession, and Carolina eventually built a commanding 20-3 halftime advantage.
The Panthers’ defense was the story of the afternoon. After surrendering 59 points against Chicago in the season opener, Carolina responded by holding Atlanta to only 286 total yards and three points while forcing five turnovers. Linebacker Devin Lloyd intercepted two passes, including a 16-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter that stretched the Panthers’ lead to 34-3.
Carolina also received a big afternoon from Tetairoa McMillan, who caught five passes for 101 yards, while Waller’s two touchdown receptions helped the Panthers consistently capitalize on Atlanta’s mistakes.
The victory improves Carolina to 1-1 and gives the Panthers their fourth consecutive victory over their NFC South rival. Atlanta falls to 0-2 on the season.
