Drivers in Kershaw County should plan for a temporary road closure this fall. The South Carolina Department of Transportation says the bridge on Porter Road over Spears Creek will close beginning September 14 for approximately two weeks to allow for necessary repairs after a recent inspection found pile deficiencies. Weather permitting, the bridge is expected to reopen by September 25. Traffic will be detoured using Tower Road and Fort Jackson Road, adding about 2.6 miles to the trip. School bus routes may also be affected.
