For only the 16th time in Clemson University’s 136-year history, the school has selected a new president. The Clemson Board of Trustees unanimously named Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz as the university’s next president following a national search. Guskiewicz previously served as president at Michigan State University and chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A nationally recognized neuroscientist, he’s known for groundbreaking research on sports-related concussions and was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2011. Clemson leaders say his experience in higher education and research leadership made him the top choice to guide the university into its next chapter.
