On Tuesday, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Cleveland School Road area of Camden about an attempted armed robbery of a US. Postal Service Letter Carrier. The victim stated that while he was delivering mail, a red vehicle stopped in front of him and that a male approached him brandishing a firearm and demanding items from him. The victim stated that he did not possess what the subject wanted and that the suspect then re-entered the passenger side vehicle and it drove off. Investigators with the KCSO were able to identify the vehicle through surveillance cameras as a red Dodge Charger.
Then on Thursday, deputies were able to locate the vehicle and perform a lawful traffic stop. Upon a search of the vehicle, items were discovered linking it to the attempted robbery. Both occupants of the Charger are from Prosperity S.C. They were both placed under arrest for Attempted Armed Robbery, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Criminal Conspiracy, and Financial Transaction Card Theft. More Charges may be filed. The Camden Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office aided in this investigation.
