Lugoff-Elgin’s unbeaten start came to an end Friday night as the Wren Hurricanes traveled into Lugoff and defeated the Demons 33-20.
The loss was Lugoff-Elgin’s first of the 2026 season after the Demons opened the year with four consecutive victories. It was also their lowest scoring output of the season so far. Wren improved to 5-1, while Lugoff-Elgin fell to 4-1.
Despite the setback, Lugoff-Elgin has put together an impressive opening stretch that included victories over Chapin, Camden, Nation Ford and South Aiken.
The Demons will now turn their attention to region play. Lugoff-Elgin travels to Westwood Thursday night for its first region matchup of the season, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30.
For the Demons, the challenge now will be putting their first loss behind them and getting back on track as the games become even more important in October.
