As spring yard work season gets underway, Truvista Fiber is reminding residents to take a simple step that could prevent major disruptions. April is National Safe Digging Month, and before starting any outdoor project—from planting trees to installing fences—homeowners are urged to call 811 or submit a request online.

That free service marks underground utility lines, helping protect workers, property, and critical infrastructure like internet, electric, gas, and water. Truvista Fiber officials say even small digging projects can accidentally damage buried lines—leading to costly repairs and service outages for entire neighborhoods.

Customers are encouraged to request utility locates at least three business days in advance. For more information or to submit a request, dial 811 before you dig.
