The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a series of incidents that have caused concern across the community.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Michael David Branham of Columbia was arrested yesterday morning at his job site in Columbia with assistance from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and SLED’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.

Investigators say Branham is now facing three charges, including stalking, breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, and malicious injury to personal property. Authorities note that these charges carry serious potential penalties under South Carolina law, including possible felony convictions.

Branham is currently being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center, where he is awaiting bond. A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff Lee Boan praised the cooperation between law enforcement and the public, saying community involvement played a key role in bringing the case to a resolution. Boan added that this investigation is an example of how citizen engagement can help solve crimes and reduce stress on both deputies and the community. The Sheriff thanked residents for their assistance as the investigation continues.
