The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Kirim Deshown Gaskins (27) of Camden in connection to a stabbing incident that took place on June 19, 2024, at approximately 5:30 am on the 2400 block of Baron Dekalb Road in Camden. The incident was originally reported to KCSO that a 27 year old male was stabbed by an 84 year old female with dementia and that the female fled the scene on foot. The male was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and a search began for the female, which involved KCSO K9 tracking teams and Camden Police Department drones. After the female was located, she told a completely different story. She stated the male attacked her, and she was forced to defend herself with a knife. She was injured and also transported by ambulance to be treated.

The investigation led to charges on Gaskins for Assault & Battery and Kidnapping. The female victim was released from the hospital on June 20th. Gaskins was released from the hospital earlier on Wednesday, arrested by the Columbia Police Department, and transported to the Kershaw County Detention Center.
