According to Elgin Police Chief Alan Anders via Facebook, he says they had several individuals, some that live in the Town Limits, others that don’t, who met on Kelly St. and Ontario Dr. for an illegal gun and narcotics sale that went south real quick, it led to a robbery and massive gun fight. Anders says that one of the suspects who was a juvenile was shot and transported to the hospital by EMS. That injured suspect had fled the scene in the white Dodge Charger that ended up pulling over at the IGA. He continued that the event was chaotic, but noted that their primary goal was to protect the safety of the public. Anders also thanked the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, Fire and EMS, along with the public for all the help and finished by saying that the investigation is long from over.
