South Carolina seniors can once again receive help buying fresh fruits and vegetables through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program beginning June 1st. The South Carolina Department of Social Services says eligible seniors age 60 and older can receive $50 in paper checks to use at approved farmers markets, roadside stands and mobile markets across the state. Applicants must meet income requirements, provide identification and apply in their county of residence. Checks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is available in all 46 South Carolina counties this year.
