South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond has announced the launch of a new online registration system for trademarks, service marks, and livestock brands. Hammond says the new system is designed to make filing faster and more efficient, helping entrepreneurs and businesses better protect their intellectual property.
The Secretary of State’s Office provides state-level protection for trademarks and service marks, a process separate from federal registration and often quicker and more affordable for those operating within South Carolina. The office also registers livestock brands and earmarks for cattle and other farm animals across the state.
The new online system allows users to upload digital images of marks and examples showing how they’re used, reducing processing time and mailing costs. It also allows for faster communication with staff, downloadable registration certificates once approved, and searchable access to existing trademarks, service marks, and livestock brands.
