The South Carolina Department of Social Services is rolling out new fraud prevention measures to protect SNAP recipients. Beginning April 28, all EBT cards issued in South Carolina will block out-of-state and online purchases. During that time, cardholders can still make purchases within the state as normal. If users need to shop online or out of state, they’ll have to temporarily unlock their card through the ConnectEBT website, mobile app, or customer service line. DSS says the move is designed to better safeguard benefits and reduce fraud.
