Kershaw County property owners should watch their mailboxes beginning Friday, June 12th, as the county begins sending out reassessment notices. County officials say the notices are informational only and are not tax bills. Actual tax bills are expected to be mailed around October of 2026.
The notice shows updated market, taxable, and assessed values for each property. Under South Carolina law, taxable value generally cannot increase by more than 15 percent over a five-year period unless the property has been sold or improved. No action is needed unless a property owner has concerns about the value listed. Written appeals must be submitted to the Kershaw County Assessor’s Office within 90 days, or by September 10th. Questions can be directed to the Assessor’s Office at 803-425-1523, or in person at 515 Walnut Street in Camden.
