According to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, in late November 2024, skeletal remains were discovered by two juveniles riding their bikes in a wooded area near DeRoyal Textiles off East York Street in Camden. On Monday, according to Kershaw County Coroner David West, those remains have been positively identified as those of missing man William Black. Black was reported missing in October of 2018 by his brother, who had not heard from William in several weeks. At the press conference, Sheriff Lee Boan says that they have yet to determine a cause of death, but that based on the remains, they do believe Black passed away in and around the time he was reported missing six years ago. Boan and Black’s family went on to ask the public for help in finding out what actually happened. If you have any information, you can remain anonymous by calling CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
