The Carolina Panthers battled back in the second half, but their comeback attempt came up short Thursday night as the Green Bay Packers held on for a 27-19 victory at Lambeau Field.
The loss dropped Carolina to 3-4 on the season, while Green Bay improved to 5-3.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love led the way, completing 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Green Bay also got a big performance from running back Josh Jacobs, who scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air.
The Packers built a commanding 27-10 lead in the second half before Carolina began fighting its way back into the contest.
Panthers quarterback Bryce Young finished the night completing 23 of 41 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Young faced constant pressure from the Green Bay defense, which recorded six sacks.
Carolina running back Chuba Hubbard provided much of the Panthers’ offensive production, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Hubbard also added seven receptions for 38 yards.
Trailing by 17 points in the second half, Carolina refused to go away. The Panthers added a field goal before Young connected with wide receiver Jalen Coker on a 26-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Carolina attempted a two-point conversion but came up short, leaving the Panthers trailing 27-19.
The Panthers had another opportunity late in the fourth quarter, but Green Bay’s defense came up with a crucial stop on fourth down to help preserve the eight-point victory.
For the Packers, Christian Watson finished with eight receptions for 113 yards, while Matthew Golden added seven catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Carolina showed some fight in the second half, but offensive struggles and Green Bay’s relentless pass rush proved too much to overcome.
Looking ahead, the Panthers will return home this Sunday, November 8th, to take on the Denver Broncos at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
