Quilling is an old art form, probably as old as paper itself! It’s had several periods of wide interest, in ancient Egypt, the Renaissance period, 18th Century Europe, and Colonial America.  We’re in a revival of this craft, and it offers an opportunity for creative expression as well exercise in fine motor skills and concentration.  You’ll learn many of the basic shapes and forms and can create a sampler of your filigree paper art to use as a reference and then jump right in and create little gift tags or cards. Seniors, stop in at Bethune for some help figuring out computer basics. We’ll be utilizing programs from GCFglobal and Learning Express Library. Staff will be on hand to assist with getting you through these programs.

Join us for a PowerPoint presentation on nine labyrinths developed by Croatian writer and teacher Adrian Kezele.  These labyrinths have been associated with attributes such as “Freedom”, “Transformation”, “Wisdom”, etc. as well as planets or points in space.  They are drawn from seeds, so are easy to learn and fun to explore.

Join other Lego fans at the Bethune branch to build with the library’s Legos. For kids of all ages.

Need someplace to unwind and hang out with your friends or other tweens/teens? Come to the library and socialize, play games, do artwork, or whatever makes you happy. No sign-up is required; just drop in and hang. For ages 12-17 only.

Kids and parents playing along are welcome to join us in playing with Legos at the library.

Kiwanis Club of Kershaw County hosts their annual country breakfast fundraiser. Plates are $10 and delivery is available. In addition, all military personnel (active, retired or disabled) eat free as well as kids 3 and under eat free. Proceeds benefit the children and youth of Kershaw County.

There will be a Scouting America registration event for Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers!  Anyone wanting to sign-up their Kids to a pack, troop, or explorer post in Kershaw County can come on to the Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site Park.  There will be adults and youth guiding you to the McCaa House!
