The North Central Knights picked up a much-needed region victory Friday night, holding off the Chesterfield Golden Rams 21-20 in a one-point thriller.
Coming off a difficult 41-6 loss to Central the week before, the Knights responded by finding a way to win a tight game against a Chesterfield team that entered the night looking for its first region victory.
When the final horn sounded, North Central had done just enough to secure the 21-20 win and improve to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 5-A. Chesterfield dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in region play.
The victory gives North Central some momentum as the Knights head into the heart of their region schedule. North Central will hit the road Friday night to take on Lee Central, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
