During the May 20 school board meeting, the Kershaw County School Board approved the hire of Michelle “Micki” Dove as the district’s new Director of Elementary Education.

“I am honored to step into the role of Director of Elementary Education and to support the incredible educators, staff, students, and families across Kershaw County Schools. My passion for education is deeply rooted in a commitment to building strong relationships, fostering academic excellence, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, supportive learning environment. I look forward to partnering with all stakeholders to build on the strong foundation already in place,” says Dove.

A veteran educator of more than 28 years, Dove currently serves as the Director of Curriculum Support for Aiken County Public Schools. Prior to this position, she served as a district-level Science Content Interventionist, an instructional coach, and elementary and middle level teacher in Aiken County Public Schools and Florence School District One. She also worked as an adjunct education professor at the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Dove earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Francis Marion University, and a Master of Education in Leadership of Educational Organizations degree from American InterContinental University.

Dove is a member of the SC Association of School Administrators, International Reading Association, the National Educators Association, the S.C. Science Education Leadership Association, the South Carolina Science Council, and the National Science Teachers Association.

Mrs. Dove and her husband Dr. Gary Dove, a physician at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center for the past 3 years, are looking forward to making Kershaw their full-time home. “We are excited to finally settle in and become even more invested in the health and growth of this wonderful community,” says Dove.
