The Montessori School of Camden has announced the return of Dr. John Moncure as interim Head of School effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Moncure formerly led the school from 1998-2004 and 2008 to 2021, when he retired to Beaufort and his sailboat. In 2018, John led the school through the first transition in South Carolina from a private institution to a public charter.
During his previous tenure at the school, he served on the Boards and as president of Kershaw County First Steps and the Kershaw County Historical Society, was a member of the Camden Rotary Club and member of the Board of United Way of Kershaw County. He currently serves on the Board of Montessori Educational Programs International and the Beaufort County Historical Society, and is an On-Site Visitor for the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
