According to Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Camden Police Department responded to the intersection of Dicey Creek Road and Broad Street in Camden in reference to a female running into a business claiming that someone was after her and attempting to kill her. Investigators determined that the victim and defendant were in a relationship and had been involved in an argument that turned physical. The victim fled her location on Dogwood Lane in Cassatt and went to another location off of Providence Road. The accused, 34 year olf Raymond Lewis Bailey, went back into the residence where another male and a juvenile female were asleep. Bailey woke the couple up, forced them into a car at gunpoint, and ordered them to take him to where his girlfriend had fled to. Upon arriving at the second location, Bailey forced his way into the residence where his girlfriend was located while armed.
Bailey then forced his girlfriend into a second car at gunpoint and left, forcing her to drive. While driving down Robinson Town Road, Bailey grabbed the wheel of the car and caused the vehicle to wreck into a telephone pole. Bailey and his girlfriend were picked up by the other couple who were following them.
They then pulled off on a side road, where Bailey assaulted the victim and forced everyone back into the car, driving to Camden. Once the car became disabled on Dicey Creek Road, the victim fled into a business where she asked employees to call Law Enforcement. Bailey was located at a business on Broad Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Bailey will be charged with 3 counts Kidnapping, 3 counts of Pointing and Presenting a firearm, Burglary 1st Degree, 4 counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, 2 counts of Assault and Battery 1st Degree, 2 counts of Felon in Possession of a firearm, and Criminal Domestic Violence High and Aggravated Nature. He is currently being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
