All three Kershaw County high school football teams are heading into the postseason with first-round byes, as Lugoff-Elgin, Camden and North Central prepare to make their runs toward a state championship.
The Lugoff-Elgin Demons capped off an impressive regular season Friday night with a convincing 42-13 victory over Lancaster, securing the region championship and earning a first-round bye in the state playoffs.
The Demons will now have an extra week to rest, recover and prepare for the second round of the postseason. Lugoff-Elgin will enjoy home-field advantage when it returns to action on Friday, November 13th, hosting the winner of the first-round matchup between May River and Conway.
Meanwhile, the Camden Bulldogs closed out their regular season in dominating fashion, rolling past Airport 69-27 on Friday night. The Bulldogs, who had already secured their region championship, will also receive a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Camden will return to historic Zemp Stadium on Friday, November 13th, when the Bulldogs host the winner of the first-round playoff matchup between Crestwood and Aynor.
The North Central Knights enjoyed a week off this past Friday night after wrapping up their regular-season schedule. The Knights have already secured a first-round bye and will now turn their attention to the second round of the playoffs.
Unlike Lugoff-Elgin and Camden, North Central will open its postseason run on the road. The Knights will travel to Hampton County on Friday, November 13th, looking to keep their championship hopes alive.
With all three Kershaw County programs earning first-round byes, the county will have plenty to be excited about as the postseason gets underway.
Lugoff-Elgin and Camden will have the advantage of playing in front of their home crowds, while North Central will look to make some noise on the road.
All three teams will return to action on Friday, November 13th, as the road to a state championship continues.
