Kershaw County Republican voters made their choices in Tuesday’s primary runoff election, with strong turnout driven by more than 1,100 early votes. In the race for governor, Attorney General Alan Wilson carried Kershaw County with 2,972 votes, defeating Lieutenant Governor Pam Evette, who received 1,293 votes. In the Republican runoff for Attorney General, David Stumbo narrowly edged Stephen Goldfinch in Kershaw County, receiving 2,200 votes to Goldfinch’s 1,957. Meanwhile, Cody Simpson won local support in the Commissioner of Agriculture runoff with 2,622 votes, defeating Danny Ford, who received 1,535 votes.
Election officials reported 1,179 early votes cast during the runoff period, helping push total voter turnout in Kershaw County to 4,278 ballots.
