Kershaw County Council Considers Growth Ordinances in Special Meeting

Kershaw County Council has called a special meeting on March 31st at 6pm at the Government Center in Camden to review a series of major growth-related ordinances following recommendations from its Smart Growth Rewrite Committee. During a special called meeting, council will discuss nine proposed changes aimed at managing rapid development across the county.

Among the proposals—new rules for residential building permit allocations, updated design standards for major subdivisions, and requirements for sidewalks, open space, and off-street parking. The recommendations also include new regulations for emergency access, financial guarantees for developers, and expanded review timelines for land development applications. The meeting is open to the public and will stream live at the county’s YouTube Channel.
