Kershaw County is alerting residents to upcoming smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system starting March 26th through April 10th, weather permitting. Officials say the testing helps identify leaks and defects in the system. During the process, harmless white smoke will be released and may be seen coming from manholes or vent pipes. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, and will disappear quickly. Testing will take place in neighborhoods along Whitehead Road, Driftwood Avenue, and Kimpton Drive. If smoke enters your home, open windows for ventilation and notify field crews. For more information, contact the Kershaw County Engineering Department.
