The Kershaw County School District Board of Trustees approved two key administrative appointments during a special called meeting Thursday.

Rebecca Shackleford, currently principal of Lugoff-Elgin Middle School, was named the district’s new Director of Assessment. Shackleford joined KCSD in 2024 and brings experience in school leadership, curriculum, assessment, and data analysis from districts in Rock Hill, Fort Mill, and Lancaster County.

The board also promoted Lugoff-Elgin Middle School Assistant Principal LaKeisha Lawrence to principal. Lawrence has served as assistant principal at LEMS for six years and previously taught at Camden Elementary and Camden Middle schools. She was named Camden Elementary’s Teacher of the Year in 2009.

Both administrators say they look forward to supporting student success and building on the district’s commitment to excellence.
