The Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), the world’s largest adult education organization, organized an advocacy event, Flood the Hill, during Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) Week In Washington, DC. During this event, State Advocates for Adult Education Fellows (SAAEFs) from all over the country convened on the Capitol steps to raise awareness about adult education and the needs that their districts and programs face. Kershaw County Adult Education Director Byron Johnson participated in events at the Capitol, engaged in interviews, and attended legislative meetings. Mr. Johnson says, “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as an advocate for COABE. Meeting and working with legislators and state leaders who work tirelessly to better South Carolina has been an amazing experience.”
