Horse Creek Academy-Kershaw is inviting the community to help shape its future with a school-wide naming contest now underway. School board chair Craig Smith says the move comes as enrollment continues to grow and interest in school choice expands across Kershaw County. The name change follows the closure of Limestone College, which previously supported the school’s charter network. Beginning July first, the school will officially join the Charter Institute at Erskine.

The naming contest will roll out in three phases. Submissions from students, families, and teachers are open now. Three finalists will be announced April twenty-first, followed by a community vote. The winning name will be revealed May nineteenth and take effect July first, ahead of the new school year. School leaders say updates will be shared on the school’s Facebook page in the weeks ahead.
