Kershaw County voters favored Darline Graham in Tuesday’s special Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff, as Graham also claimed the victory statewide.
With all Kershaw County precincts reporting, Graham received 2,709 votes, or 59.25 percent, while Congressman Ralph Norman received 1,863 votes, or 40.75 percent. A total of 4,572 votes were cast in the county runoff. Graham’s margin in Kershaw County was considerably larger than her margin statewide. Unofficial statewide results show Graham winning with 193,396 votes, or 52.45 percent, compared with Norman’s 175,327 votes, or 47.55 percent. More than 368,000 votes were cast statewide.
Graham, who was appointed to the Senate following the death of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, now secures the Republican nomination for the seat. She will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in November’s general election.
