A former Kershaw County correctional officer is facing multiple charges following a state investigation. According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, 52-year-old Julyan Keith Smith has been charged with grand larceny, obtaining a signature under false pretenses, and misconduct in office. Smith was arrested April 29th after an investigation requested by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say he was booked into the Kershaw County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
