CJWL Announces Scholarship and Poetry Winners

The Camden Junior Welfare League recently announced the winners of their 2025 CJWL High School Scholarship. Each student will receive $1,000 towards their schooling! From Camden High School: Hunter Hayes, Makensie McGee, Amaya Jones, and Zechariah Haney, and from Lugoff-Elgin High School: Kylie Gallagher, Landen Hall, Joseph “Watson” Harvley, Lauren Haskell, Allen Marchman, and Braylen Mumford.

In addition the league held a poetry contest recently, and these were their award winners:

General Category Winners:
Clarissa Hunt — “Beautiful Day” (Lugoff-Elgin High School)
Khloe McClain — No Title (Camden High School)
Miriam Byrum — “Orange” (Camden High School)

General Category Honorable Mentions:
Miriam Sirmon — “The Sparrow” (Lugoff-Elgin High School)
Tiana Benjamin — No Title (Camden Middle School)
Holden Diegert — “Thankful” (Camden High School)

Special Category: Women’s Empowerment
