The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Timothy Jerome Staggers, Jr (21) for Homicide by Child Abuse. This incident occurred on Copeland Circle in Camden on July 25, 2024. On the morning of this incident, Staggers transported his unresponsive, two-month-old daughter to the Kershaw Health ER. KCSO, KC Coroner’s Office, and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Child Fatality Unit responded to the ER and the incident location on Copeland Circle. The victim died from her injuries, and an autopsy was performed the following day. The final report from the autopsy was completed on November 25, 2024. All facts of the case were discussed with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, and an arrest warrant was obtained on December 2, 2024. Staggers was arrested on December 4, 2024, at the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
