Camden City Councilman William Wilkes has been named Board Member of the Year by the Transportation Association of South Carolina, recognizing his leadership and advocacy for public transportation. Wilkes received the honor Wednesday during the association’s annual conference in Greenville.

Wilkes chairs the Santee Wateree Regional Transportation Authority Board and has helped secure approximately $60,000 in funding for Kershaw County transit services, while also supporting the growth of Camden’s King Haigler Express fixed-route service.

The award recognizes Wilkes’ efforts to improve transportation access throughout Camden and rural Kershaw County.
