The Camden City Council meets Tuesday at 5 p.m. at City Hall with several items on the agenda. Council will consider approving recommendations for this year’s Accommodations Tax funding, including grants for local tourism organizations such as the Arts Center of Kershaw County, Carolina Cup, Colonial Cup, Irish Fest, and the South Carolina Equine Park. Council will also vote on a resolution allowing alcohol consumption in designated areas during the Christmas in August celebration on August 15. In addition, members will hold a first reading of an ordinance that would prohibit new billboards in the city while allowing certain existing billboards to be converted to digital displays under specific regulations. The meeting will also include proclamations honoring the Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society, Miss Camden, and Miss Camden’s Teen. City Council meetings are open to the public.
