The Camden City Council will meet Tuesday evening March 17th at 5:30 in City Hall, with several items on the agenda affecting downtown events and city regulations. Council is expected to consider resolutions allowing the consumption of alcoholic beverages during two upcoming events — the 24 Hours of Lemons Downtown Block Party and the CUP Fest Downtown Street Festival. Council members will also hear a presentation on the city’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure and SCIP water projects, outlining progress on water system improvements. In addition, first reading of an ordinance would establish regulations for the operation of golf carts within the city limits. Another ordinance would update provisions related to the Historic Landmarks Commission. The meeting will also include a service recognition for Planning Commission member Johnny Deal, followed by an executive session to receive legal advice concerning city utility matters. Camden City Council Meetings are always open to the public.
