Camden City Council has approved a new ordinance updating rules for golf cart use inside city limits. Under the new law, golf carts can now be driven from daylight hours until 11 p.m., expanding the previous time restrictions. The ordinance also requires carts to have working headlights, taillights, and turn signals. Drivers must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license, and carts must be properly registered and insured through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Officials say the changes are designed to balance convenience with safety as golf carts remain a popular way to travel around Camden.
