The Camden Bulldogs put together their biggest offensive performance of the season Friday night, rolling past the A.C. Flora Falcons 54-20 at historic Zemp Stadium. Multiple current sources list the final as 54-20, although some score roundups reported Flora with 27.
Camden’s offense continued to show why the Bulldogs can be one of the most dangerous teams in the area when they get rolling. The 54 points were a season high for Camden, topping the 49 points the Bulldogs scored in their previous victory over longtime rival Hartsville.
The victory improved Camden to 3-1 on the season and gave the Bulldogs their fourth consecutive home victory dating back to last year. Camden has now won two straight after dropping its rivalry game against Lugoff-Elgin earlier in the season.
It was also a special night at Zemp Stadium beyond what happened on the football field. Camden celebrated Military Appreciation Night, recognized the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, and honored the 25th anniversary of Camden’s 2001 state championship football team.
For A.C. Flora, the loss dropped the Falcons to 1-3 and extended their losing streak to three games.
Camden will now take its two-game winning streak on the road this Friday night when the Bulldogs make the trip to the low country to battle Hilton Head Island. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Hilton Head Island enters the match-up coming off a 28-14 victory over Christ Church.
