The Atlanta Braves are rolling at just the right time.
Atlanta completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies over the weekend at Truist Park, winning 6-4 on Friday, 2-1 on Saturday and 3-2 in 10 innings on Sunday. The sweep extended the Braves’ winning streak to seven games and improved their record to 82-55.
The Braves opened the series Friday night with a 6-4 victory, powered by a big night from Michael Harris II. Harris went 2-for-3 with a double, a two-run home run and three RBIs, while Ronald Acuña Jr. collected three hits and scored three times. Grant Holmes worked five innings to earn the victory, improving to 9-5, while Raisel Iglesias closed it out for his 29th save.
Saturday’s game turned into a pitchers’ battle, and once again Harris delivered when Atlanta needed him most.
Trailing 1-0 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Harris ripped a two-run double that scored Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubón and gave the Braves a 2-1 lead. Martín Pérez gave Atlanta 5 2/3 strong innings, allowing just one run, while Brent Suter worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory. Didier Fuentes escaped trouble in the ninth to record his third save.
The Braves saved their most dramatic victory for Sunday.
Sean Murphy put Atlanta on the board with a solo home run in the third inning, and Acuña added an RBI single to give the Braves a 2-0 advantage. Colorado battled back to tie the game and eventually forced extra innings.
Braves starter Tyler Mahle turned in another strong performance, striking out nine while allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings.
Then in the bottom of the 10th, Atlanta finished the weekend in walk-off fashion.
Acuña led off with a single, setting the stage for Matt Olson, who delivered the game-winning RBI single to give Atlanta a 3-2 victory and complete the sweep.
The Braves didn’t just sweep Colorado — they finished a perfect 6-0 homestand, sweeping both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Rockies. Atlanta has now won seven consecutive games overall after also winning the final game of its previous series against Milwaukee.
Harris was one of the biggest offensive stars of the Colorado series, delivering the big home run Friday and the game-winning two-run double Saturday. Acuña also showed signs of heating up, going 6-for-9 during the three-game sweep.
With September arriving and the postseason race entering the home stretch, the Braves have suddenly found another gear.
