Lugoff-Elgin High School’s Caring Closet is getting a boost thanks to young leaders at Blaney Elementary. The Ray of Sunshine Leadership Council, a student service initiative sponsored by District Teacher of the Year Randi Ray, recently collected an abundance of hygiene items and school supplies for the LEHS Caring Closet. Founded by teachers Carie Knight and Marnie Melton three years ago, the closet provides essentials like shampoo, toothpaste, clothing, and school supplies to students in need. Knight praised the Blaney students as “young leaders in the making,” highlighting the strong spirit of collaboration across the Kershaw County School District.
